Another lesson from the RT school of hard knocks or welcome to a new tool
I replaced all three bulbs on my 2009 RT for the first time yesterday and have the sore and scraped up hands that go with it. I did lose a bulb in my tupperware somewhere I'm embarrassed to say. My connectors are fine, the lights all work and the idiot light warning signal is gone so no problems there.
I read on the BMWMOA forum where someone had used a "pick-up" tool (looks like a cable with a push plunger on one end and flexible claws on the other) to hold their bulbs and insert them. After using only my hands on the first two bulbs on the left and center, acquiring many scrapes in addition to inventing new and interesting curse words, I went to the auto parts store and bought one for $3. The right bulb went in smoothly in about 5 minutes. Needless to say the pick up tool is now part of my traveling tool kit. Just passing along someone else's advice, spend the $3 and get the pick up tool...........as Ron Popeil of RONCO TV Commercials would say "You'll be glad you did"......... Happy Trails. ![]() Don |
