A couple of years ago BMWRSM club members sat around my living room and watched Hard Miles, the true story of the 2007 Iron Butt Rally.
Well it is that time again. I have the video Hard Miles 2, the True Story of the 2009 Iron Butt Rally. And, I am welcoming members again on Sunday March 13th. We can get together starting at 4 PM enjoy a few slices of pizza and watch the “Worlds’ Toughest Motorcycle Competition” from the relative safety of my living room.
The link below is to the internet offer that will describe the video and the Iron Butt Rally. As of the 2009 Rally, (25 years) 393 riders and 10 passengers have completed this motorcycle test. Four of those riders have been from Maine. One of the most competitive and consistent bike brands has been BMW. If fact, BMW’s have won 7 of the last 8 IBRs, and usually account for more than half the finishers.

The next link is to a map of the 2009 Bonus points, and the individual bonus points of the finishers. The theme for 2009 was “crime”. Each bonus represented a real or Rally Designer Bob Higden perceived crime. If you look at this site, click the flags over the bonuses and read the interesting digressions described.
